At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe the different phases of Clinical Trials and determine where their clinical trial fits within that pipeline
  2. Identify the key conceptual and writing strategies for a fundable clinical trial: Significance of the problem, background and rationale, and theoretical framework
  3. Construct the Clinical Trials Documents: Learn the parts and pieces that comprise the Clinical Trials Document and strategies for compiling these documents for your proposal

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Karen MustianDr. Mustian is an internationally recognized clinical researcher in the area of cancer control and survivorship with primary foci on investigating the influence of exercise (i.e., exercise, yoga, tai chi) on symptoms and side effects (acute, chronic and late) stemming from cancer and its treatments.

Dr. Mustian is a leader in conducting large, multi-center, phase III clinical trials testing exercise and behavioral interventions among cancer patients and survivors with over 19 years of experience at the University of Rochester Wilmot Cancer Institute. She is the PI for several local and nationwide randomized clinical trials funded by the NCI, NCCAM, OCCAM, NINR and DOD. She has an outstanding funding and publication record, acquiring over $80 million in research funding and authoring over 150 articles and book chapters in the field of exercise and cancer control.

Dr. Mustian has been recognized for her excellence in research and leadership with more than 43 awards nationally and globally.
