Winter Paper Chase
A Collaborative Writing Event
Guided by ReVel Collab facilitators, participants worked in structured writing blocks, engaged in team-building activities, and leveraged shared strengths to move efficiently from analysis to manuscript development. This team-based approach helped demystify the publication process and created a supportive environment for scholars across career stages.
In December, the Center for Women’s Health and Wellness partnered with the HHS Office of Research to support this Winter Paper Chase, a three-day collaborative research writing event facilitated by ReVel Collab (Research Velocity Collaborative). The Paper Chase model is designed to accelerate manuscript development while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, mentorship, and skill-building among scholars at all levels, from undergraduate students to tenured faculty.
During the event, four interdisciplinary teams focused on a range of timely health-related research topics:
- Response rates among genetic counselor participants in student-led research
- Health care inequities experienced by sexual and gender minority adults in the United States
- Cardiovascular risk factors among U.S. Latina women, examining differences by age, education, nativity, and parental status
- The relationship between sleep quality, exercise, and brain activity in college students
By the conclusion of the Paper Chase, all teams had developed strong manuscript drafts and established clear next steps for revision and submission. Teams are now refining their analyses and manuscripts and are actively preparing for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
The Center for Women’s Health and Wellness is grateful to all participants, facilitators, and partners for their collaboration and dedication, and looks forward to seeing these projects progress to publication.
