SUMMARY:ACE WOMEN’S NETWORK SPEAKER SERIES
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Tammi Vacha-Hasse will join us on Tuesday October 26 from 3:00-4:30 pm in NIB 510 and also on zoom (link TBA). \nDr. Tammi Vacha-Haase is Dean of the Graduate College at Boise State University\, the largest graduate school in Idaho. Since joining the leadership of Boise State in 2016\, she has established several transdisciplinary doctoral programs\, added 15 new master’s programs\, and reimagined student recruitment. Dr. Vacha-Haase is currently an ACE Fellow\, a nationally recognized program for emerging leaders in higher education. For her immersion semester\, she is working with Chancellor Gilliam and the UNCG leadership team to observe leadership style\, crisis management\, decision-making\, and budget management. The title of Dr. Vacha-Hasse’s talk is “You can have it all… Just not at the same time” and she says: In my presentation I plan to share my journey to this point\, highlighting critical moments\, challenges and opportunities\, and reflections. I’ll make sure to touch on topics such as mentoring\, leadership\, and navigating both your professional and personal life.  \nThe Women’s Network Leadership Mentoring initiative will pair experienced senior leaders at UNCG with those who are new to their leadership positions or who aspire to higher levels of leadership. MUSTIAN\, PH.D.\, M.A.\, M.P.H.\nDean’s Distinguished Endowed Professor of Oncology and Surgery\nCo-Director\, Wilmot Cancer Institute Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program\nCo-Director and MPI of the University of Rochester Cancer Center NCORP Research Base\nDirector\, Human Performance Clinical Research Laboratory\nUniversity of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry \n\nWORKSHOP LEARNING OBJECTIVES\nAt the conclusion of the workshop\, attendees will be able to: \n\nDescribe the different phases of Clinical Trials and determine where their clinical trial fits within that pipeline\nIdentify the key conceptual and writing strategies for a fundable clinical trial: Significance of the problem\, background and rationale\, and theoretical framework\nConstruct the Clinical Trials Documents: Learn the parts and pieces that comprise the Clinical Trials Document and strategies for compiling these documents for your proposal\n\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER\nDr. Mustian is an internationally recognized clinical researcher in the area of cancer control and survivorship with primary foci on investigating the influence of exercise (i.e.\, exercise\, yoga\, tai chi) on symptoms and side effects (acute\, chronic and late) stemming from cancer and its treatments. \nDr. Mustian is a leader in conducting large\, multi-center\, phase III clinical trials testing exercise and behavioral interventions among cancer patients and survivors with over 19 years of experience at the University of Rochester Wilmot Cancer Institute. She is the PI for several local and nationwide randomized clinical trials funded by the NCI\, NCCAM\, OCCAM\, NINR and DOD.
